The New Scheme

The New Scheme

The initial stage of 3.2 consists mostly of further development of the design.

That means working out overall concept, scheme as well as plans.

The Development

The Development

The initial development of the scheme in Phase I results in a new shape for the building as well as a new outline for the whole concept.

The Essoldo will change its appearance and be divided into three spaces, the Museum in the original building, the Atrium and the Cinema.

The community garden fills the square and the former boatyard but the focus of the project lies on the building and the Plaza.

The ground floor offers the main access point through the Atrium, which leads into the museum and the cinema as well as to the upper floor.

The Atrium is the main circulation space for the whole building.

The first floor of the museum consists of walkways suspended from the ceilings, with the possibility to look down onto the ground floor.

The cinema has a second access point on the first floor.

The Model

The Model

The use of a whiteboard model makes the process of finding issues and problems with the design easier. The model is used to look at the design in 3D before the design is finalised to be able to address issues more quickly.
