As illustrated below, the focus of Phase II is developing and finalising the concept as well as the scheme.

The Development

The development shows a scheme that focuses as much on the building as on the landscape.

The parking space behind will instead be used as a park, which will lower the noise pollution on site.

The building itself is broken up between the museum and the Atrium, with a footbridge leading from one to the other on the first floor.

The museum changes shape to appear like it has been smoothly cut through, instead of a wall it is connected to the outside with a glazed wall. The space between the museum and the Atrium opens up the Plaza to the park and makes the space more unified.

The Plaza opens up both to Chester Road and Edge Lane to give multiple access points. It transforms into steps towards the canal, with a space for gigs and performances looking out onto the canal.

A footbridge connects the Plaza to the other side of the canal, to ensure continuous circulation from the tram stop into town.

The cinema now also hosts a screen on the South wall, which will be used as an outdoor cinema during warmer months of the year.
